Trailing by one, Blue scored a run in both the fifth and sixth innings to take the lead heading into the seventh before senior pitcher Peyton St. George shut down the side to close out the contest.
Similar to Friday, junior Deja Davis open the game with a leadoff home run, giving the Black Team an early 1-0 lead. After a single from senior Rachel Crabtree and two free bases on a hit-by-pitch and a walk, Black Team loaded the bases but couldn't bring across any more runs in the first frame.
Blue looked to strike again in the top of the fifth as Crabtree opened the inning with a hit off the right field wall. Junior Caroline Jacobsen followed with a double just fair of the left field line and graduate student Raine Wilson earned a walk, but the Blue Team was unable to tack onto its lead.
With two outs on the board in the bottom of the fifth, sophomore Gisele Tapia hit a solo homer to tie the game at 1-1. Carrying the energy into the top of the sixth, St. George and the defense shut down the next three batters.
Back at the plate, Blue had two flyouts to open the bottom half before freshman Julia Boyet single to the left side. Coming up clutch for the second straight game, freshman Francesca Frelick brought home the game-winning run with a single up the middle (2-1).
St. George earned the victory in the circle – her second of the weekend – after hurling seven complete innings. Black used two pitchers as freshman Claire Davidson earned the start, throwing 4.1 frames and picking up three strikeouts, before junior Shelby Walters entered in relief, tossing 1.2 innings.
