EUGENE, Ore. – Kent State University track and field graduates Danniel Thomas-Dodd and Samory Fraga competed at the 2022 World Athletics Championships, which concluded Sunday at Hayward Field.
Thomas-Dodd, silver medalist at the last World Championships in 2019, placed 10th in women's shot put with a mark of 18.29m (60'-0.25") on her second attempt in the finals during the second night of competition on July 16. The two-time Olympian and Westmoreland, Jamaica native had finished fifth during the qualification round the previous evening.
In his World Championships debut, Fraga recorded a top distance of 7.51m (24'-7.75") during the men's long jump qualification round to finish 27th. The Porto Alegre, Brazil native was one of three Golden Flashes alumni who competed at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics a year ago.
