BATON ROUGE, La. – The Alabama women's soccer team and LSU Tigers battled through rough rainy conditions to a 3-3 double overtime draw, late Friday night and into Saturday at the LSU Soccer Complex. The Crimson Tide earned a hard-fought conference point on the road and move to 1-3-2 in the standings.

Heavy rainfall and lightning came on during the contest that kicked off at 7 p.m. CT Friday evening, making an impact on the field conditions as well as a delay in the play of the game.

Alabama got off to a quick offensive start, recording back-to-back goals less than a minute apart from Carly Wyatt. The forward, Wyatt, broke through in the 19th minute off a pass from Casey Wertz and Brynn Martin. Nearly seconds later, Wyatt responded with her second goal of the game and season to make it a two-goal match before play was suspended due to lightning in the area.

Once play resumed nearly two hours later, momentum shifted to the Tigers, as LSU got on the board before halftime by a goal from Tinaya Alexander in the 25th minute.

After the half, Serena Pham picked up the pace with a score during the 57th minute of action, but LSU's Alexander responded within the minute to leave the Tide only up by one, 3-2. The Tigers found the equalizer in the 77th minute from Molly Thompson to keep the score tied the final 13 minutes of regulation.

In one of the most intense matches this season, neither team could establish an advantage, ending the double overtime in a stalemate.

Behind the Box

  • Heading into overtime, the match was very physical and a bit chippy, featuring 40 combined fouls, six yellow cards and a red card, leaving LSU with just 10 players on the pitch by the final whistle.
  • Opportunities for each team were nearly even, with UA recording six corner kicks to LSU's five.
  • Shots were flying all game, with the Tigers holding the edge on shots 16-12.
  • McKinley Crone finished with six saves through 110 minutes.
