LIST: Food and water distribution sites in the Houston area - KPRC Click2Houston

HOUSTON – The city of Houston remains under a boil water advisory and while water pressure has improved across the area, the advisory is expected to stay in effect until Monday.

Dozens of nearby municipalities, including the Pearland and Katy also issued boil water notices.

Residents are advised to use bottled or boiled water for drinking, cooking and hygiene purposes like brushing your teeth or washing your face until the notice is lifted.

Amid the boil water advisory, several water distribution sites are opening in the Houston area.

Please note this list will be updated as new sites are announced and closed.

Here are the water distribution sites:

Houston/Harris County

  • Saturday at 9 a.m. -- West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM): 10501 Meadowglen Dr, 77042
  • Saturday at 8:30 a.m. -- Church at the Cross: 3835 S. Dairy Ashford, 77082
  • Saturday at noon -- Fountain Life Center: 14083 S Main, 77035
  • Saturday at 9:30 a.m. -- New Light Church - Love City: 7317 East Houston Road, 77028

Butler Stadium

The Astros Foundation, Brothers Produce, the Mayor’s Office, and the City of Houston have partnered to create a second water distribution event that will take place on Sunday at Butler Stadium.

The event will be open to all individuals in the Houston area who are in need of assistance. Each car at the event will receive five gallons of water.

The event will begin at 2 p.m. and will last until supplies run out. Butler Stadium is located at 13755 S. Main Street in Houston.

Harris County, Precinct 2

Seven Harris County Precinct 2 Parks will host free water distributions. People must bring their own containers to fill with water which will be provided on a first-come, first-serve basis, and there is a five-gallon limit per person.

Note: since this water is sourced from the taps located at the parks, it is subject to the area’s boil-order notice to be safe for consumption.

The seven parks that will have water available are Clear Lake Park (5001 NASA Pkwy, Seabrook, TX 77586), Sylvan Beach Park (636 N. Bayshore Dr., La Porte, TX 77571), Bill Crowley Park (5100 Lauder Rd., Houston, TX 77039), Jim and Joann Fonteno Park (14350 ½ Wallisville Rd., Houston, TX 77049), Crosby Community Center (409 Hare Rd., Crosby, TX 77532), Riley Community Center (808 1/2 Magnolia, Barrett, TX, 77532) and Leonel Castillo Community Center (2101 South St., Houston, TX 77009).

Harris County, Precinct 2

Harris County Precinct 2 will be hosting a pair of drive-through pop-up food giveaways on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday’s event begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Grayson Community Center at 13828 Corpus Christi Street.

Sunday’s food distribution will be held at 10 a.m. at Leonel Castillo Community Center at 2101 South Street.

People are asked to stay in their vehicles during the distribution, and Precinct 2 Staff/Volunteers will place food in recipients’ trunks.

Here are the food distribution sites:

HCC North Forest Campus

The Minister’s Coalition of Harris County and Vicinity is partnering with the Houston Food Bank, Houston Community College, Harris County Precinct 3 Constable Sherman Eagleton and Harris County Precinct 1 Commissioner Rodney Ellis for a food distribution event on Saturday, Feb. 20. Food will be distributed at the HCC North Forest Campus at 6010 Little York Road in Houston starting at 10am. The event is scheduled to go until 3pm.

Cotton Holdings

Cotton Holdings and its subsidiaries will be distributing free hot meals across the Houston area Friday and Saturday at the following restaurant locations:

  • Jimmy Changas (300 Westgreen Blvd, Katy, TX 77450): 300 meals starting at 11 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday
  • Rollin Phatties (1731 Westheimer Rd, Houston, TX 77098): 375 meals starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19; starting at noon on Saturday, Feb. 20
  • Jersey Mike’s Subs (7670 Katy Freeway, Houston, TX 77024): 375 meals starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 20

Nom Mi Street Food Truck

Look for Nom Mi Street Food Truck and other food trucks at 3900 Alameda giving away food to the homeless. They served on Friday and plan to return on Saturday, Feb. 20 starting at 11 a.m. to give away more free food.
