Fayetteville, Ark. – Day one of the 2021 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center saw the LSU program score points in the men's weight throw, women's weight throw, and both distance medley relays.

The men's weight throw duo of Jon Nerdal and Jake Norris combined to score 10 points with third and fifth place finishes, respectively. Nerdal registered a mark of 71' 11.75" (21.94 meters) to garner his first SEC bronze medal. Norris wasn't too far off his distance with a throw of 70' 8.50" (21.55 meters) to place fifth.
In the women's weight throw, Monique Hardy took fourth and Emma Robbins placed sixth. Hardy's best throw of the day was a 70' 10.50" (21.60 meters) toss, and Robbins PR'd with a throw of 67' 9" (20.65 meters). It was the first time that Hardy and Robbins have scored at the SEC meet. Hardy was the top finisher at the meet, and Robbins' throw is the fourth best in LSU history.
The men's distance medley relay of Eric Coston, Charles Lewis, Adam Wise, and Davis Bove combined to run a time of 9:43.14 to place sixth in the event and score three points for LSU. The time of 9:43.14 will go down as the seventh fastest time in LSU history and the splits were as follows: Coston (2:58.45/1,200 meters), Lewis (47.77/400 meters), Wise (1:54.73/800 meters) and Bove (4:02.20/1,600 meters).
The women's DMR clocked a time of 11:30.18 to finish seventh and score two points. Shanya Luna ran an 1,200-meter leg of 3:36.48 before passing the stick to Jurnee Woodward, who clocked a 400 meter time of 55.24. From there, Lorena Rangel ran 800 meters in a time of 2:08.64 before Alicia Stamey closed it out with a split of 4:49.83 in the 1,600 meters.
After two events completed on the men's side, LSU is in second place with 13 points and the women are in a tie for place with 10 points.
