THIS WEEK
WHAT IS HAPPENING: Boise State brings an eight-match win streak into the weekend when they host both Weber State (4-5) and Montana State (3-3).The action begins Saturday when the Broncos entertain the Weber State Wildcats at 2 p.m. (Mountain) at the Appleton Tennis Center. The weekend will conclude on Sunday with an encounter versus the Montana State Bobcats at 12 p.m. (Mountain) at the Boise Racquet and Swim Club at 1116 N. Cole Road in Boise, near Boise Towne Square.
THE SERIES: Boise State is familiar with both the Wildcats and Bobcats having once been league rivals in the Big Sky Conference. Since 1987, the Broncos are 16-9 versus Weber State and have won 15 straight, while they are 32-5 against Montana State during teh same time span and winners of 23 straight in the series.
FANS: A limited number of fans will be allowed at the Appleton Tennis Center for each match. Boise State COVID-19 protocols of wearing a mask and social distancing are in place and will be enforced.

ABOUT THE BRONCOS
LAST TIME OUT: Boise State traveled to San Diego, Calif., last weekend where the Broncos went 2-0. They opened with a match at the Big West Conference's UC San Diego defeating the Tritons 4-0. The Blue and Orange followed that with a 4-0 Mountain West Conference opening victory at San Diego State.SOLID DOUBLES: Boise State has been solid in doubles this spring winning the team doubles point in nine of 11 contests to date. Overall, the Broncos have gone 19-8 (.704) in doubles contests through the first 11 matches of the season.
SINGLES DOMINATION: The Broncos have pretty much dominated most of their singles matches through the first 11 contests going a combined 47-12 (.797), six of those 12 defeats came at Utah on Feb. 13.
LAWRENCE SCIGLITANO: Sciglitano has won five straight in singles splitting time between the No. 4 thru 6 positions. The redshirt-sophomore is 7-1 in singles on the year and 3-2 in doubles.
WYATT DEMULLING: DeMulling was a 2020 All-MW singles honoree. This year he has gone 6-1 in singles playing primarily the three through five positions, he has an active four-match win streak going. DeMulling currently has a team-high 57 career wins in singles, 12 short of the program's top-20 list for career victories.
SIMON ARCA COSTAS: This year the redshirt-sophomore is undefeated in singles going 6-0 at the one through four positions and has won nine straight stretching back to 2020. The Spaniard won 20 singles matches last year and now has 47 career singles victories in the blue and orange. He recorded the match clincher in the MW opener at San Diego State (March 13).
BLAKE BAYLDON: Bayldon has gone 5-3 in singles to date splitting time between the top three courts. He has won 21 singles matches since transferring to Boise State for the 2019-20 season. He has a career doubles mark of 27-7, 6-2 in 2021.
BAYLDON & ARCA COSTAS: Bayldon and Arca Costas received All-MW Doubles honors after compiling a 14-2 record last year, including a 7-2 record while playing at the No. 1 position during dual competitions. This year the tandem has gone 4-1 at No. 1 doubles suffering their first loss (6-4) at San Diego State (March 13).
MW PLAYERS OF THE WEEK: Boise State has tallied three Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Players of the Week so far this season with Kyryll Kryvchun earning it on Jan. 27, Luka Soskic on Feb. 24 and Simon Arca Costas on March 10.
THE MAN IN CHARGE: Kristian Widen is in his third year in charge of the men's program at Boise State where he has recorded back-to-back winning seasons, his record currently stands at 28-17. Widen has been a part of seven conference championships at Boise State, three as a player and four as an assistant coach.
