Philadelphia, PA -- The Nyack College women's soccer team started its 2021 Spring campaign with a 2-2 double overtime draw against the Holy Family University Tigers, a team that they had lost 8-2 to during the 2019 season.

The Tigers got off to the better start firing several shots towards the Nyack goal in the opening minutes. The Tigers continued to push forward earning four consecutive corners in the span of five minutes. In the 14th minute the Tigers found the net for the first time on the day when Holy Family's Gianna Monaco went into a one-on-one with Nyack's goalkeeper Michelle Baum to put the Tigers ahead. But the early goal served as a wake up call for the Warriors who answered back only 90 second laters, when Shanice Rapp picked up a rebound outside the box and fired the ball into the back of net to tie the game, 1-1.

The Tigers took the lead once again in five minutes later when they converted one of their many corners to go up 2-1. But Nyack once again answered back. In the 31st minute Shanice Rapp served the ball into the box from the right side where she found fellow teammate Zion Dewerff to tie the game up at 2-2. Neither team was able to find the go ahead goal in the remaining minutes and the first half finished with a score of 2-2.

Both teams tried to find the back of the next again in the second half and the Tigers continued to accumulate corners throughout the game. However, neither team was able to find the back of the net again, which meant the match headed into the overtime. During the first ten minutes of extra time Nyack's Shanice Rapp recorded the lone shot, which was saved by the Tiger's shotstopper Brianna Pudlo.

The Tigers fired off two shots in the second overtime period, seeing their first attempt go wide, while the second was saved by Nyack's Lea Zehringer, who took over in goal from Michelle Baum in the 65th minute. On the other side, a Anna Lopez shot attempt was saved by Pudlo. Nyack had one final opportunity with a late corner, but wasn't able to to make anything of it, which ended the game with a final score of 2-2.

Shanice Rapp led the Warriors with a goal and an assists for a total of three points on the day. Michelle Baum saved three of the five shots she faced during the first 65th minute before her injury related departure. Her replacement Lea Zehringer went a perfect 4-4 during the remainder of the game.

Up next: Nyack will be back in action on Wednesday when they host the Georgian Court University Lions at 12:00 pm. You can follow all the action live via live stats and live stream to support your Warriors.
