RALEIGH, N.C. — On Sunday morning, Raleigh police responded to multiple reports of shots fired on Wake Forest Road.
At around 6:10 a.m., officers approached two people who were getting into a vehicle that had a firearm inside.
Officers say they tried to take one of the suspects, identified as Christopher Ryan Pierce, age 33, into custody. However, Pierce reportedly assaulted an officer and drove away in a vehicle – striking an officer with the vehicle as he tried to escape.
After a brief vehicle chase, officers took Pierce into custody and charged him with Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of Firearm by Felon, and Possession with Intent to Sell and Distribute Cocaine.
The other suspect fled on foot.
EMS was called to check on the injured officer and Pierce. Neither required hospitalization.
