Junior Leigha Brown and Emily Kiser were a big part of the Wolverines' success on offense, with each dishing out five assists, while Hailey Brown had three assists and knocked down two three-pointers.

U-M was dominant on the glass, outrebounding Northwestern, 46-31, and had 13 offensive boards which turned into 12 second-chance points.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Dilk and Hailey Brown put Michigan up, 8-2, early on the Wildcats, before Michigan hit four of its final five shots of the first quarter to take a 15-9 lead into the second quarter.

Northwestern came out hot in the second stanza, going on a 7-0 run and forcing five U-M turnovers to pull within one, 17-16, with 7:37 remaining in the half. After a significant scoring drought, Johnson made two free throws and Dilk followed it up with her second three-pointer of the game to give the Wolverines a 22-16 lead.

Michigan hit its final three shots of the second quarter, including a third make from Dilk from beyond the arc to send the Wolverines into the locker room with the 30-25 advantage over Northwestern. Michigan game out of the halftime break and scored a quick six points before Hillmon made two straight layups to put U-M up by 13, 44-31, at the media timeout. The Wolverine offense struggled from the field in the closing five minutes, scoring its final six points off free throws from Johnson and Hillmon to carry a 50-41 lead into the fourth quarter.

Johnson hit a triple to start the fourth quarter, but the Wildcats clawed their way to within four, 55-51, as U-M went on a scoring drought of more than three minutes with just over five to play. Hailey Brown put an end to the drought hitting the three-pointer off a pass from Dilk, and the Wolverine defense put a stop to the Northwestern scoring for more two minutes.

Despite not finding a field goal in the final 4:30, the Wolverines held on to win in its final home game of the season.

With the win over Northwestern, Michigan earned the No. 4 seed in the Big Ten Tournament and will have a second-round bye. The Wolverines will start the tournament Thursday (March 11) with the full bracket to be announced later today.
