The Mountaineers, seeded No. 3 in the region bracket and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference co-champions, will host a first-round game in the Mountaineer Bowl on November 20 at 1 p.m. against University of Nebraska at Kearney.
The postseason visit is Western's first since 1997.
The Mountaineers finished the regular season with a 10-1 record overall and an 8-1 mark within the RMAC, tying Colorado School of Mines atop the conference standings.
The lone blemish on Western's record came in an overtime loss at then-No. 5 Mines on October 2. Mines (10-1, 8-1) suffered its lone loss at Colorado Mesa University (26-21) three weeks later.
Mines heads into the postseason bracket as the region's No. 1 seed, and with that ranking earns a first-round bye.
Second-seed Angelo State (Texas) University hosts University of Minnesota-Duluth in a first-round match-up, while fourth-seed Augustana (S.D.) University takes on Bemidji (Minn.) State.
Second-round games are scheduled for Nov. 27, with the winner of the Augustana-Bemidji State game taking on Mines, and the Angelo State-Minn. Duluth and Western Colorado-Neb. Kearney winners squaring off.
