The Los Angeles Chargers have been one of the big winners in NFL free agency, and they added another offensive weapon that will help out Justin Herbert. Former Seattle Seahawks tight end Gerald Everett is headed to the Chargers on a two-year, $12 million deal, per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
According to Rapoport, Everett's deal has a max of $13.5 million and $8 million guaranteed. His AAV of $6 million per year ranks 20th in the NFL, per Over The Cap. Everett actually began his career in Los Angeles with the Rams, as he was selected in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of South Alabama. He left last offseason, signing a one-year deal with the Seahawks.
In his one season in Seattle, Everett put up career numbers all across the board with 48 receptions for 478 yards and four touchdowns. Just 27, Everett's best football may be ahead of him, and playing with a young talent like Herbert will help as well.

This move makes it seem as though Jared Cook will not be re-upping with the Chargers. In his one season with L.A., he caught 48 passes for 564 yards and four touchdowns. Everett is yet another weapon that is going to add something to this offensive attack. The Chargers also found a way to keep wide receiver Mike Williams in the fold, who had a career year in 2021.
In addition to Williams, some of the Chargers' other offseason moves have included trading for Khalil Mack and signing star cornerback J.C. Jackson.
