The long-time Grand Forks company can provide and install siding, roofing, windows, doors and gutters to improve the looks and functioning of the home.
Don Linnertz, who has owned and operated the business for 43 years, said his customers want to maintain and keep up the appearance of their property and add to their home’s value with new siding.
Homeowners who are in the market for new windows are drawn to the vinyl windows because they are permanent, Linnertz said. “You don’t have to monkey with it again.”
Some upgrades that have come on the market include gutters that are now available in larger sizes to accommodate more water, and don’t run over as quickly as past products, he said.
Also, steel roofing has gained popularity, edging out asphalt products because the cost of the latter continues to rise, he said. Asphalt must be replaced in 15 years, but steel is permanent.
And “for people who are looking to buy a home, you don’t want to buy a home that has got to be fixed up in the next year,” Linnertz said.
For siding and gutters, especially, the options have multiplied, he said. Those products are now available in more than 30 colors.
Don’s ABC Seamless enjoys a “pretty good following” among people in this region, he said. The company serves customers in a wide geographic area, from the Canadian border to Langdon, N.D., to Fosston, Minn., and south to Mayville, N.D.
Almost all, about 99%, of his customers are homeowners, Linnertz said, and most projects can be completed within two weeks.
A lot of customers visit the Don’s ABC Seamless website to research services and products -- and “by the time they call, they know what they want,” he said.
Linnertz, who grew up on a farm near Red Lake Falls, Minn., bought the business 43 years ago, he said. At the time, it had been open for a couple years. He added the word “Don’s” to the name.
Over more than four decades, the business has grown to the point where, in the busy summer months, it employs about 20 workers, he said.
Don’s ABC Seamless is located at 1175 N. 62nd St. The office phone number is 701-746-7246 or 800-301-7246.
