CLEVELAND – The Mid-American Conference champion Northern Illinois University women's indoor track and field team earned 10 Academic All-MAC honors as announced by the league office on Friday (April 30). 

Among NIU's 10 honorees are four-time Academic All-MAC honoree Nora Finegan (Palatine, Ill./Fremd), who picked up the award during the 2018, 2019 and 2020 indoor seasons, as well as four three-time recipients, including Sara Atkins (Warrenville, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) Brynn Bartlett (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead), Maggie Cavanaugh (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton Warrenville South) and Kenyae Majors (Burlington, N.C./Hugh Cummings) who each earned Academic All-MAC recognition during the 2019 and 2020 indoor seasons. 

NIU also has three two-time Academic All-MAC honorees as Kaitlyn Lewis (Liberty, Mo./Liberty), Hannah Ricci (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) and Ashley Tutt (Channahon, Ill./Minooka) received the honor during the 2020 indoor campaign. 

Among NIU's 10 academic honorees are eight Huskies who competed at the MAC Indoor Championships, helping win the program's first conference title. Tutt was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer at the championship after winning the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters while Lewis and Robinson earned Second Team All-MAC recognition. 

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
