STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's track & field team battled their way back from a slow start to their second home meet to beat UAlbany, Northeastern and Rhode Island to win the UConn Dog Fight at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex on Friday.
The Huskies finished with 200.5 points over the 18 scored events to go 4-0 in the meet and stayed a perfect 8-0 in their two home meets this season. The Huskies won four field events and three events on the track on the way to the win.
"We took care of business today," stated Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Greg Roy. "We had to find a way to win after getting off to a rough start. I thought we got stronger in a lot of ways with this meet. Our jumps group was great and really got us jump started. We are learning how to win and doing a very good job of it. Very excited about where we are at and how we are doing it."
"The 1500 was amazing and we did very well to get us back going, and great to see Amy Piccolo get her first win in the 800," said Roy. "Did a great job in the jumps; Emma Chee was awesome. For Zayin Roe has been putting up some big triple jump weekends for us. It was great to see Taylor Woods jump for the first time this season and she was very solid."
