"We can't keep going 2-2 every series," said Head Coach Jim Toman. "We have UAB, Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech, and FIU, so we have 16 more conference games… We want to have the tie breaker over someone, but we have to win."
Blue Raider starting pitcher Zach Keenan made his second appearance of the weekend, having also pitched two innings in Friday's 7-5 win over the Hilltoppers.
"Our pitchers continue to keep us in games," said Toman. "Keenan competed, he didn't have his best stuff, but he pitched a couple innings on Friday and he kept us in it today."
Keenan was replaced by DJ Wright in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Raider right-hander pitched six innings, allowed six hits, three runs, two earned, and struck out four and moves his record this season to 2-3.
The only offense from the Blue Raiders came in the top of the seventh inning. Hunter Sullivan led off the inning with his third single of the game and was brought all the way around to score on an RBI double to left-center field off the bat of Gabe Jennings.
"Today was the type of day where we could have gotten over the hump," said Toman. "We need to regroup, have some good practices Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and try to get back on a winning streak."
The Blue Raiders will be back at Reese Smith Jr. Field on April 26 for the first of a four game C-USA series against UAB. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
