DeKALB, Ill. – With season tickets on sale and fans ready to fill the stands at Huskie Stadium again for the 2021 Northern Illinois University football season, NIU has set its initial promotional schedule for the Huskies' four Saturday home games.
The 2021 home opener on Saturday, September 11 will serve as a "Welcome Back" celebration after the Huskies played in front of limited or no supporters during their three 2020 home games. During the game versus Wyoming, NIU will honor local heroes, including first responders and health care workers, with the contest and surrounding activities also serving as a central part of NIU Family Day.
On Saturday, September 25, the sound of marching bands from throughout the region will fill the air as Band Day returns when the Huskies take on Maine. In addition, the game provides a chance for NIU to honor teachers as part of the College Football Playoff's Extra Yard for Teachers campaign.
NIU will play its 114th Homecoming game, the oldest such celebration in the state, on Saturday, October 2 versus Eastern Michigan. All alumni are invited to return to campus and gather with current students and staff as well as fellow alumni to cheer on the Huskies.
A very special group of alumni will be honored on Saturday, October 16 as NIU will welcome members of the 2011 Mid-American Conference Championship team back to campus for a 10-year reunion when the Huskies face Bowling Green. The historic season culminated in the Huskies' first MAC Championship in football since 1983 and began a run of three titles for NIU in four years.
Additional themed promotions, group gatherings and giveaways will be invited to these four games, as well as the Huskies' #MACtion contests on Wednesday, November 10 when NIU and Ball State renew the "Battle for the Bronze Stalk," and on Tuesday, November 23 for Senior Night versus Western Michigan.
Game times for 2021 home games will be announced this summer along with guidelines for parking, tailgating and more. NIU anticipates being able to accommodate all season ticket members for games at Huskie Stadium next fall. On the West Side, reserved seats in sections A, B, F and G are $132 for all six games with senior citizens (62+), NIU Faculty/Staff, NIU Alumni Association and Varsity Club members will pay $132 for season tickets in any non-premium area on the West Side. For all others, reserved seats in sections C, D and E on the West Side are $150. Benchback and chairback seats in sections C, D and E on the West Side are $150 and require a per seat payment.
NIU Football season tickets renewals are now available for 2019 or 2020 season ticket members.
