Softball Returns to University Field After Month-Long Hiatus with Weekend Series Against Jacksonville State

Morehead State Softball is back at University Field for the first time since March 22 as it prepares to take on conference rival Jacksonville State. The month-long hiatus away from home comes after MSU's series against Belmont was canceled while its homestand versus Eastern Kentucky was postponed to May 5.The Eagles' homecoming begins with a single game on Sunday at 3 pm ET before a Monday doubleheader at 12 and 2 pm ET. Lennon Spicer is likely to spend significant time in the circle for Morehead State this weekend after having appeared in all of MSU's last eight contests for a combined 45.2 innings.

NOTABLE
• After being unable to regularly compete for the last two weeks, Morehead State has fallen from the top spot in the OVC in stolen bases. Having been in first for a majority of the season, the Eagles are now tied for second in the conference with 59 SBs on 70 attempts. MSU is 29th in the country with 1.84 stolen bases per game.
• Sophomore Kirya Kingery is the catalyst for the speedy Eagles with 21 stolen bases, tied for most in the OVC. She is also 18th in the country with an average of 0.68 stolen bases per game. Her 21 SBs are the most for a Morehead State player since Krystie Coleman stole 21 bags in 2007.
• MSU batters are second in the OVC combining to be hit by a pitch 26 times. The Morehead State pitching staff is also second in the conference in HBPs, having hit 26 opposing batters on the year.
• Morehead State has seen excellent work behind the plate as junior catcher Peyton Slater has thrown out eight opposing runners this season, tied for second-most in the conference.
• Freshman Lennon Spicer is second in the OVC with 117.1 innings pitched on the year. She also ranks in the top 10 in the conference in appearances (T-sixth, 23), games finished (T-fourth, 11), wins (T-fifth, 8), and strikeouts (seventh, 66).
• MSU pitchers are fifth in the OVC with 40 batters struck out looking. Lennon Spicer is tied for second in the conference individually, representing 23 of the 40 total strikeouts.
• Kirya Kingery is tied for 10th in the OVC in runs, having crossed the plate 23 times on the season. She is also 13th in the conference with a .411 on-base percentage. Her 29 career stolen bases put her just outside the top 10 in Morehead State history.
• Morehead State has three Eagles in the top 15 in the OVC in times HBP. Kirya Kingery leads the Eagles with nine times HBP, tied for second-most in the conference. Peyton Slater has been hit seven times to be tied for fourth-most in the OVC while Peyton Rose has been hit four times to be tied for 13th.
• Alexis Strother leads Morehead State with a .326 batting average on the season to rank in the top 35 in the OVC in the category. She is also tied for 11th in the conference with 23 RBI.
• Infielder Peyton Jordan is tied for 11th in the OVC with 56 assists on the season. She has been the Morehead State starter at second base for 29 of the Eagles' 32 games to date while her .911 fielding percentage is the highest of MSU's regular starters.
