PHILADELPHIA – After a record-setting win on Sunday, the La Salle University baseball team (32-17, 15-5 A-10) will look to solidify its Atlantic 10 Championship positioning this week as the Explorers close out the regular season with a four-game series at Saint Joseph's. All four games will be on ESPN+.

THE MATCHUPS (at Saint Joseph's – 4 Games)

LEVINS REPEATS AS A-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
  • Junior Tatem Levins earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for the second consecutive week on Monday following his performance at the plate last weekend at Fordham.
  • Levins batted .538 with a .611 on-base percentage and a .846 slugging percentage to lead the Explorers to a 3-1 A-10 series win over the Rams.
  • The catcher scored six runs, drove in four more, walked three times, homered and doubled over the four-game stretch, including a 4-for-4 performance in game one and a 3-for-3 showing in the finale.
  • He's been on fire as of late, hitting at a .583 clip over the last eight league games, pushing his batting average up to .326 for the season.
A HISTORIC WEEKEND
  • The Explorers made history on Sunday, breaking the school record with their 32nd win of the season to clinch a 3-1 series win at Fordham. That record had stood for 36 years after the 1985 team went 31-20 and made the NCAA tournament during their previous record-setting season.
  • In Friday's series opener, graduate student Ryan Guckin tied the single-season triples record with his seventh of the year and the Explorers scored 11 unanswered runs to mercy rule the Rams, 14-2 in eight innings. La Salle recorded 16 hits and senior Colin Scanlon fired 8.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on six hits with six strikeouts.
  • La Salle tied the program record for wins with a doubleheader split on Saturday, dropping game one, 4-2, and coming from behind in game two for an 8-4 victory. Senior Jack Cucinotta had a two-run double in game one, while freshman Frank Elissalt struck out six over 5.2 innings. La Salle overcame a 4-0 deficit in game two as junior Nick O'Day homered and redshirt sophomore Nick Di Vietro went 3-for-3, while sophomore lefty Jordan Morales and redshirt freshman righty Colin Yablonski shut down Fordham over the final six innings.
  • On Sunday, the Explorers got the record by jumping in front from the first inning and never looking back en route to a 9-5 series-clinching win. Sophomore Gabe Rappa allowed just two runs on six hits with five strikeouts over 7.0 innings on the mound. Levins drove in a pair and Guckin and sophomore Connor Coolahan each had two hits apiece.
EYES ON THE ATLANTIC 10 CHAMPIONSHIP
  • The Explorers remain firmly at the top of the Atlantic 10 North standings with a 15-5 conference record. It's the most conference wins for La Salle since 2013.
  • La Salle has now won four consecutive Atlantic 10 series, downing UMass on the road, St. Bonaventure and Saint Joseph's at home, and now Fordham on the road.
  • The top two teams in each division will make up the four-team Atlantic 10 Championship. The double-elimination tournament will be held May 27-29.
  • Currently, the Explorers have a four-game lead over Rhode Island (10-6 A-10) and Saint Joe's (11-9 A-10). The Rams play a four-game set at UMass this week.
MILES OF MILESTONES
  • Ryan Guckin has been climbing the program's all-time ranks in a number of categories this season. He recently tied the school record with his seventh triple of the season, tying Sam Boone ('85). Guckin is also tied for fifth in career doubles (45), tied for seventh in single-season doubles (17), tied for ninth in career RBI (122) and tied for ninth in single-season RBI (50). He's just two runs away from 100 for his career as well.
  • Jack Cucinotta has been racing his way up the program's all-time ranks for stolen bases. He's now tied for third in single-season stolen bases with 27 and tied for fifth in career stolen bases with 45.
  • Frank Elissalt has had a phenomenal freshman campaign as one of the top strikeout pitchers in program history. He ranks second in single-season strikeouts with 92 and is tied for ninth with six wins on the year.
  • Colin Scanlon has steadily climbed into the ranks as the team's top pitcher in the starting rotation. He recently moved into a tie for fifth in single-season wins with seven and is 10th in both career strikeouts (166) and single-season strikeouts (73).
  • Tatem Levins, only a junior having played less than three full seasons, has entered the all-time ranks as well. He's now tied with himself (2019) and three others for ninth in single-season RBI with 50. Levins is also closing in on the single-season runs list (47; 2 from t-9th) as well as career doubles (37; 2 from t-10th).
SCOUTING SAINT JOSEPH'S
  • The Hawks are 17-17 overall and 11-9 in the Atlantic 10 with a .500 record at home.
  • La Salle took three of four games from Saint Joseph's earlier this season at Hank DeVincent Field, outscoring the Hawks 30-12.
  • Most recently, Saint Joe's split a four-game series at Rhode Island, with both losses coming in a doubleheader.
  • Brendan Hueth leads the team with a .375 batting average, followed by Brett Callahan's .320 average, while catcher Andrew Cossetti is tops on the squad with 12 homers.
  • Ian McCole (2-3, 4.30 ERA) will get the start on the mound Thursday. He leads the team with 50 strikeouts. In their previous four meetings, the Hawks started McCole, Ryan DeVine (2-3, 8.16 ERA), Noah Weber (2-1, 4.63 ERA) and Lucas Rollins (2-3, 6.21 ERA).
