Hein, a sophomore from Clayton, N.C., is an international studies and modern language and cultures double major with a 3.94 GPA. She is a three-time member of the Cadet-Athlete Scholar Society and also earned Athletic Director's Honors.
Hein swam for multiple top five finishes in her second season at VMI in multiple events. She posted season-best times in the 200 IM and the 100 fly, including a 16th place finish in the 200 fly at the American East Championships.
Sheehan, a sophomore from Stafford, Va., is a biology major with a 3.73 GPA. He secured a spot on the Cadet-Athlete Scholar Society three times and also earned Athletic Director's Honors.
He placed in the top four in every event he competed in during the 2020-21 regular season. Sheehan holds 11 school records, including relay events and freshman marks.
"Congratulations to Jack and Holly," said VMI head coach Andrew Bretscher. "Not only did they positively impact on the team's athletic performance throughout the season, but they also performed admirably in regards to their academics. It is great to see them recognized for their contributions and work outside the pool by being selected to America East's All-Academic Team."
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have sophomore athletic eligibility, attain a 3.30 minimum grade-point average and be a contributor on their team. The squad is voted on by a committee made up of America East student-athlete support and athletic communications administrators as well as faculty athletic representatives. There were only 21 members of the 2020-21 America East Conference Swimming and Diving All-Academic Team.
