Happy Sunday Husky fans. The Huskies are not only hosting a large contingent of official visits, which we discussed last week, but they also hosted their annual rising stars and dirt dawg camp (for skill players and offensive and defensive lineman). Here is a look at some of the prospects who were on campus for the camps:
4 star linebacker Tausili Akana from Kahuku HS, HI participated in the dirt Dawgs camp this weekend. Listed at 6’4” and around 225 pounds Akana is being recruited as an outside linebacker for the Huskies. Rated as the 27th best prospect in the 2023 class, Akana holds offers from UW, Ohio State, USC, Oregon, and LSU. It is good for the Huskies to be able to get Akana on campus and the Huskies figure to be a factor in his recruitment.
4 star inside linebacker Liona Lefau from Kahuku HS, HI was also in town to participate in UW’s camp. As the 23rd rated linebacker in the 2023 class, Lefau currently holds offers from Michigan, Oregon, UW and Texas. As is the case with Akana the Huskies were happy to get Lefau on campus and should figure prominently in his recruitment.
3 star offensive lineman Micah Banuelos from Kennedy Catholic HS, WA was another participant in the dirt Dawgs camp. Rated as the 17th inside offensive lineman in the 2023 class. The Huskies have offered Banuelos, who is listed at 6’3 and around 285 pounds, but they will need to fend off lots of schools to land Banuelos. Texas A&M, Nevada, and Oregon state have all joined UW in offering Banuelos.
3 star offensive lineman Landen Hatchett from Ferndale HS, WA joined Banuelos at the dirt Dawgs camp. Fresh off an offer from UW, Hatchett set out to show the Huskies why they offered him. With offers from Oregon, Oregon State, and WSU Hatchett is primarily looking at staying in the region it appears. Listed at 6’3” and around 285 pounds Hatchett, whose brother Geirean is currently on the roster, looks like an ideal fit as a guard or center.
3 star offensive guard Parker Brailsford, from Saguaro HS, AZ was another participant in the dirt Dawgs camp. The 2022 Husky commit was able to show his future offensive line coach, Scott Huff, what skills he possesses. Rated as the 22nd best inside offensive lineman, Brailsford chose UW over offers from USC, Arizona, and Michigan.
Some other notable participants in the camp were 4 star cornerback Jasiah Wagoner from Spanaway HS, WA. Rated as the 84th best prospect in the country the Huskies would love to reel in Wagoner and add him to their DB room. There is a long way to go in his recruitment, who is a 2023 recruit, but the Huskies are one of his early favorites. 4 star running backs Jason Brown and Jayden Limar from O’Dea HS and Lake Stevens HS respectively were both on hand as well. Both hold offers from UW and the Huskies would love to add both to their roster (Brown is a 2024 recruit and Limar is a 2023 recruit).
As I mentioned above the Huskies are hosting several official visitors. If any of them commit we will have the news up as soon as we can. That is all for now and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
