Navy did not compete in the 2021 spring championship, but senior Luke Murphy, a second-team All-League honoree in 2019, is back for the Mids.

This year’s field welcomes eight All-League honorees, including the top-six finishers from the 2021 spring championship. Bucknell senior Ashlyn Ramos, the individual champion from the 2021 spring championship, returns as well as runner-up and fellow NCAA-qualifier Andrea Claeson of Boston University. Army West Point sophomore Georgia Jones (3rd), the defending League rookie of the year, returns to a decorated field. USTFCCCA Regional Polls
The Navy men’s cross country team remained No. 4 in the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Mid-Atlantic Region when the polls were released on Oct. 18. Bucknell climbed one spot to No. 11, with Lehigh moving up to No. 12 in the Mid-Atlantic. The Army West Point men rank ninth in the Northeast Region, with Boston University checking in at No. 15 for the second straight week.

Navy ranks seventh in the women’s USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Region Poll, while Lehigh (No. 13) and Bucknell (No.15) also made the top-15.  Army West Point is No. 12 in the women’s Northeast Region Poll, with Boston University remaining No. 14 for the second week in a row.

Patriot League Men’s Cross Country Championship History
The Army West Point men's cross country program has won a Patriot League-best 11 team championships, including the last four. Navy is second with eight, while American and Bucknell are next with six titles. Lehigh is the only other men's program to win a Patriot League Cross Country Championship, accomplishing the feat in 2012.

The Black Knights’ four consecutive League titles tie the second-longest streak in Patriot League history. Army West Point accomplished the feat from 1993-96, while Navy did it twice from 2008-11, and 2013-16. American’s streak of six consecutive Patriot League titles from 2002-07 is the longest in League history.

Beatty of the Black Knights has an opportunity to be the 10th Patriot League men’s cross country student-athlete to capture consecutive individual titles and the first since Navy’s Lucas Stalnaker in 2015 and 2016. Beatty would also join American’s Brendan Fennell (2006-07) and Pat MacAdie (2003-04), Army West Point’s Dan Browne (1995-96), Scott Goff (1997-98) and Will Wyche (2000-01), Colgate’s Ray Appenheimer (1992-93) and Chris Johnson (2011-12) and Navy’s Andrew Hanko (2009-10) as two-time winners.

Patriot League Women’s Cross Country Championship History
The Bucknell women's program has a League-high 12 team titles. Army West Point (5), Navy (4), Boston University (4) and American (2) have each won multiple League Championships. Colgate, Lafayette and Lehigh each have one women's team title.

Boston University has won the last two titles, the second time the Terriers have earned back-to-back championships since joining the League for the 2013 season. If the program can capture a third-straight title, they would be one of three Patriot League programs to win at least three titles in a row, including Army West Point (1994-97) and Bucknell, who won four-in-a-row twice from 1998-2001, and 2015-2018.

Bucknell’s Ashlyn Ramos will defend her crown and look to become the ninth multi-year honoree in Patriot League Women’s Cross Country Championship history and the first since Bucknell’s Christine Bendzinski (2016-17). American’s Keira Carlstrom (2003-05), Army West Point’s Catherine Gaffigan (1993-94), Boston University’s Rosa Moriello (2013-14), Bucknell’s Becki Marshall (1999-01) and Julie Sweitzer (1997-98), Colgate’s Elise DeRoo (2009-10) and Fordham’s Lauren Gubicza (1990-92) have crossed the finish line first at the championship more than once.
