BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Boston University sophomore Flair Kuan and Bucknell junior Jackson Bussell collected Patriot League Women’s and Men’s Golfer of the Week, respectively, when the League office announced honors on Wednesday.
Kuan received her second Patriot League Women’s Golfer of the Week honor after shooting a 4-over par 148 (73-75) to finish fourth at the 36-hole SHU Fall Classic at the Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn.
Bussell claimed Patriot League Men’s Golfer of the Week after capturing individual medalist honors at the 54-hole Howard Bison Invitational. He shot an 8-over par 224 (74-74-76), leading Bucknell to the team title.
Holy Cross freshman Ellie De Andrade, Navy sophomore Mara Hirtle and Richmond freshman Lauren Jones received honorable mentions for their performances last week.
PATRIOT LEAGUE MEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Jackson Bussell, Bucknell, Jr., Lincolnshire, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson
*Bussell captured individual medalist honors by shooting an 8-over par 224 (74-74-76) at the Howard Bison Invitational at the par-72 Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md.
*The junior earned his second career individual title, holding off William & Mary’s Ethan Mangum by one stroke.
*Bussell led Bucknell to a first-place team finish among a seven-team field with a team score of 58-over par 922 (306-304-312).
PATRIOT LEAGUE WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Flair Kuan, Boston University, So., Zhuhai, China/Pui Ching
*Kuan shot a 4-over par 148 (73-75) to finish fourth out of 70 competitors at the SHU Fall Classic at the par-72 Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn.
*She led the Terriers to a first-place finish, as the team carded an 8-over par 603 (307-296) during the 36-hole tournament.
*Kuan finished three strokes behind the individual medalist, Sacred Heart’s Kailee Welch.
HONORABLE MENTIONS
Ellie De Andrade, Holy Cross, Fr., Cohasset, Mass./Notre Dame Academy
*De Andrade finished second at the Hawk Invitational by shooting a 10-over par 154 (80-74) at the par-72 Eagle Ridge Golf Club in West Long Branch, N.J. She helped the Crusaders to a second-place finish.
Mara Hirtle, Navy, So., Pinehurst, N.C./Pinecrest
*Hirtle shot a 12-over par 228 (73-78-77) to finish 18th at the UD Lady Blue Hen Invitational at the par-72 Rehoboth Beach Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Del. Her first-round score of 1-over par 73 was one stroke off the best of her career.
Lauren Jones, Richmond, Fr., Newtown Square, Pa./Episcopal
*Jones shot a 9-over par 225 (78-70-77) to finish tied for 10th out of 72 golfers at the UD Lady Blue Hen Invitational at the par-72 Rehoboth Beach Country Club in Rehoboth Beach, Del. She became the first Spider freshman to record multiple top-10 finishes in the fall since Lizzie Reedy in 2017.
