The Murray State football team welcomes rival Austin Peay to Roy Stewart Stadium Saturday for Homecoming 2021 and a Popeyes Battle of the Border matchup. Kickoff at The Track is scheduled for 2 p.m. with the game airing live locally on Froggy 103.7 FM and streaming nationally on ESPN3.

The Series At A Glance
Saturday will be the 55th all-time meeting between the Racers and the Governors with Murray State leading the way in the all-time series, 36-18 and 21-6 in Murray. Despite the large gap by the Racers, the Govs have won each of the last four meetings and both of the last meetings in Murray.

Scouting The Governors
After an off week last week, Austin Peay enters Saturday's contest having lost each of their last three games and is currently 2-3-4 on the year and 0-1 in OVC play.

Austin Peay currently averages 28.1 points and 431.8 yards per game, while allowing 33.0 and 394.7 points and yards per game, respectively. As far as balance goes, Austin Peay's offense is fairly pass heavy with 295.6 yards per game coming in the air, compared to just 136.2 yards per game on the ground.

Offensively, three men have run the show for the most part for the Govs; quarterback Draylen Ellis, running back Ahmaad Tanner and wide receiver Baniko Harley. Ellis is 147-for-242 on the season for 284.8 yards per game with 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions, while his top target, Harley, has 35 catches for 575 yards with five scores. On the ground. Tanner has rushed for 454 yards and six touchdowns on 99 carries for 75.6 yards per game and 4.6 yards per carry.

In addition, Jonathan Edwards currently leads the OVC and is third in the nation in interceptions with four, while Terrell Allen has 4.5 tackles-for-loss, 1.0 sack and eight hurries.

A Win Saturday Would...
A win Saturday would put an end to a four-game skid for Murray State against Austin Peay.

Getting Their Best Shot
Including this week's opponent Austin Peay, five of six OVC games for Murray State will occur immediately after their opponent's bye week. Tennessee State will be the only OVC opponent this season that will not have a bye week directly before playing the Racers.

Iron Sharpens Iron
This week will be a battle of the league's best defense in Murray State and the OVC's second most potent offense in Austin Peay. The Murray State defense currently allows 330.3 yards per game, while Austin Peay's offense averages.

Homecoming Advantage
Saturday will mark the 87th homecoming football game in recorded history for Murray State with the Racers going 50-35-1 in those games. Saturday will be the 8th time MSU has hosted Austin Peay for homecoming with MSU with the Racers holding a perfect 7-0 record in those contests.

A Man of Many Talents
After scoring his third kick return touchdown of his career, Malik Honeycutt now has one of the more unique stat lines in MSU history. He now has 1,462 all-purpose yards with 200 or more yards in three separate categories. The man behind the "Miracle in Murray" currently has 883 receiving yards, 375 punt return yards and 200 kickoff return yards.
